Essential Job Responsibilities |
|

Supervise staff engaged in writing commercial property and casualty lines of business. Monitor business to achieve profitable growth with an acceptable loss ratio. Monitor performance of underwriters and agents by administering the self-audit program and performance of field audits.
1.Select, develop, motivate, train, and retain a competent staff to ensure appropriate staffing resources. 2.Manage and monitor performance of assigned lines of business. Work with management to implement changes in price or underwriting policy as necessary to enhance or correct results. 3.Oversee the self-audit program and coordinate and/or participate in field and commercial lines department (CLD) audits to ensure adherence to company, state, and regulatory requirements. Draw expertise from CLD or branch staff as necessary. 4.Work with management to implement new products and product enhancements meeting the needs of our current and potential customers. Participate in training underwriters and producers on product features, underwriting criteria and standards. Assist field and centralized management in launching new products through sales presentations and creation of educational materials. 5.Improve processes within the Company to increase the level and quality of service provided to internal and external customers. 6.Attend commercial lines related seminars on an ongoing basis to enhance underwriting knowledge. 7.Identify potential market opportunities for commercial property and casualty products by actively monitoring needs of key agents and insured groups, industry activities, and the Company due to marketplace changes. Coordinate market research and react quickly to answer market needs. |

Required Education &/or Exp |
|
*Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance or related field, or its equivalent. *IIA, CPCU or equivalent certified coursework. *5 to 7 years progressively responsible commercial multi-line underwriting experience. *Minimum of 2 to 3 years of management experience.
Job Related Knowledge and Skills: *Project management experience. *Comprehensive knowledge of commercial lines underwriting processes and procedures. *Web based and PC technical skills. |
