Westwood - North Campus is looking for an Campus Assistant Academic Dean.
Master’s required. PhD or in progress toward completion preferred.
Working under the supervision of the Campus Academic Dean, the Campus Assistant Academic Dean has responsibility for the delivery of educational programs at the campus, including implementing the Westwood Mission and Westwood Teaching and Learning Model, ensuring effective teaching; and faculty hiring, evaluation, training, and development. The Campus Assistant Academic Dean maintains high levels of quality and student satisfaction in order to retain and successfully graduate students, while operating in compliance with Westwood College policies and procedures and all state, federal, and accrediting body regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assumes all duties and responsibilities of the Campus Academic Dean in his or her absence.
2. Assists Campus Academic Dean in all other tasks required of the Campus Academic Dean, including:
Campus Level
1. Maintain and oversee all aspects of the education department
2. Maintain high levels of student satisfaction as measured by program completion, retention, and satisfaction surveys.
3. Ensures adequate resources are available to faculty and students to deliver curriculum including classrooms, labs, books, materials and technology.
4. Collaborates in the development and ongoing improvement of curriculum.
5. Evaluates and recommends resources including textbooks, materials, equipment and technology.
6. Monitors student satisfactory academic progress and initiates appropriate actions.
7. Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations and licensing requirements.
8. Participates in Program Advisory Committees and seeks employer input on curriculum.
9. Monitors submission of source documents for entering attendance and grades into student records (including processing of transfer credits).
10. Generates Student Action Reports to accurately represent student status.
11. Assists in managing the Master scheduling.
12. Provide academic advising to students.
13. Participate in the orientation of new students.
14. Manage external training contracts (Aviation)
15. Assists in planning of information related to graduation including the actual ceremony.
Corporate Level Interaction
Assist the Campus Academic Dean in efforts:
1. To work with the Department of Academic Affairs and in collaboration with Education Departments at the other campuses
2. To manage the ongoing development and maintenance of common curriculum
3. To define faculty skills necessary to deliver curriculum
4. To oversee research and development of new programs of instruction
5. To oversee the development and maintenance of education policies and procedures
6. To communicate changes in curriculum to ensure accurate marketing and delivery of programs of study
7. To manage academic catalog and to develop academic calendar
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Attends meetings and prepares reports as needed.
2. Assists as assigned in the preparation and conducting of employee reviews in a timely manner.
3. Assists as assigned in the preparation of the annual operating and capex budget
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
At the time of hiring Westwood College faculty and education department managers are required to hold a completed graduate degree from a U.S. regionally or nationally accredited university. In addition, state licensing and national accrediting criteria apply. Faculty with international credentials are required to present an official U.S. degree evaluation by AACRAO or NACES recognized evaluation agency.
1. Meets accrediting agency, state and federal standards for formal education and certification/licensing requirements
2. Working knowledge of institutional, state and federal guidelines and regulations
3. Working knowledge of spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software
4. Strong oral and written communication skills
5. Strong attention to detail
