Job Description :

Westwood is looking for a Human Resources Generalist. This position will split time between our Colorado Springs and DTC locations.

The primary role of the Human Resources Generalist is to serve as a business partner to Westwood Managers and employees by building collaborative relationships with all levels and guiding/coaching the stakeholders through the application of a wide variety of employment laws (federal and multi-state), regulations, corporate policies and practices.

ESSENTIAL/PREDOMINANT DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as the on-site resource for employee relations issues, providing managers and employees with ongoing interpretation, application, training and support to ensure compliance with policies, laws/regulations (federal and multi-state);
  • Conducts effective and legally defensible investigations into employee complaints, including policy violations and recommends the appropriate company response;
  • Viewed as a key resource by business leaders, providing thoughtful and accurate HR guidance around business initiatives;
  • Assists managers in developing the skills necessary to manage the human resources function more effectively via modeling, coaching, instruction and training;
  • Facilitates collaborative problem solving strategies, and recommends solutions to a variety of complex issues;
  • Collects, validates and analyzes data, identifies trends and makes recommendations to the Sr. HR Manager and HR Director;
  • Partners with the Benefits & Payroll Departments and assists with delivery and problem resolution;
  • Conducts training as needed on a wide range of HR-related topics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (minimum skills/experience required to perform essential job duties):

  • Demonstrated/verifiable ability to act with integrity at all times and in all situations and to ensure compliance with any/all standards, regulations and processes;
  • 5 years Generalist experience with an emphasis on Employee Relations issues. HR experience in a call center environment preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships with business leaders and peers;
  • Proficient state/federal laws/regulations knowledge, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, Title VII, FLSA and EEO regulations;
  • Outstanding communication skills (oral, written and presentation) with particular ability to communicate complex and/or sensitive information in a clear, concise, diplomatic and professional manner;
  • Demonstrated/verifiable ability to solve a wide range of complex, multi-disciplinary problems/issues and understanding the resulting short and long-term Company impact;
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment, think critically, problem-solve, meet deadlines, focused attention to detail, self-start and keep information confidential;
  • Ability to travel as needed;
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency;
  • Unwavering ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with faculty, students, administration, internal/external customers, agencies, executive management, cross-functional, cross-generational and multi-cultural teams and individuals.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (include all necessary/required licenses, certifications, registrations):

Bachelor’s Degree and PHR or SPHR preferred.
