Essential Job Responsibilities |
|

Review, evaluate and price commercial lines business for assigned agencies by applying sound underwriting judgment and adhering to company policy and state regulations within an established authority. Participate in the agency management process and team activities associated with the book of commercial lines business produced by the territory.
1. Review, classify, evaluate, and price lower hazard standard lines business within a well defined level of authority for assigned agencies. Manage book of business to achieve underwriting profit, premium growth, desired business mix, market/agency penetration, and agency management objectives. For renewal business, analyze and evaluate loss reports, audits, and other information to determine the need for modification of coverage/premium, loss control consultation or policy adjustment.
2. Implement the standard lines strategy within an assigned agency territory. Evaluate the performance of assigned agencies on an ongoing basis, to ensure that company and agency goals are being met. Participate in the review and evaluation of agencies and make recommendations on agency management issues.
3. Communicate effectively with assigned agencies in a positive way that builds strong agency relationships.
4. Improve processes within the Company to increase the level and quality of service provided to internal and external customers |

Required Education &/or Exp |
|
*Bachelor’s degree in business, insurance or related field and continuing education related to the job *1 to 3 years of relevant underwriting experience with demonstrated achievements and progressive responsibilities
Job Related Knowledge and Skills: *Demonstrated technical knowledge of commercial lines underwriting *Knowledge of the insurance industry and independent insurance environment *Knowledge of insurance principles and procedures *Ability to work independently on assignments of standard difficulty; may handle some moderately complex tasks independently
