As a Second Level IT Operations Intern, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the health and 100% availability of Progressive's IT systems, as well as evaluate, design, and maintain existing or proposed networks, platforms and systems. Our unique rotational program will allow for exposure to a broad range of technologies. You will have the opportunity to rotate through two of these five areas during the summer: Network and Telecom Operations, Distributed Systems Operations, Mainframe Operations, Data Center Operations, and Desktop Support.
To help ensure 100% availability of our systems to our customers, your job objectives will focus on problem support, maintenance and changes, and project activities. You will be paired with an experienced mentor who will help guide both your technical and professional development. During the internship, you will learn to work in a 24x7 production-oriented environment and maintain a high level of 'attention to detail' regarding critical work items. To be successful, you will need to exhibit the ability to multitask in order to balance a wide range of IT responsibilities in a dynamic work environment and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The right candidate will be self-motivated, hard working and driven toward advancement in his or her IT education and profession.
Requirements: 1. Qualified applicants must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program majoring in Applied Network & Systems Administration, Information Science & Technology, Information and Telecommunication Systems, Management Information Systems, or other IT related major 2. Excellent professional skills, including effective team skills, oral and written communication skills, analytical skills, and customer service skills 3. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems (Preferred) 4. Ability to relate technical information to non-technical people 5. Demonstrated leadership capabilities 6. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 (preferred) 7. Preferred exposure to the following technologies or concepts:
