The Consultant role in our Healthcare Financial Advisory Practice will perform mathematical and statistical analyses and actuarial modeling in support of our clients' needs. You will gain experience through data analysis, modeling, and communication with clients which will help develop your problem-solving skills. You will also gain knowledge of related software & tools, data analyses, communication skills, and an understanding of the big picture on projects.
Position Responsibilities
- Perform statistical analyses and actuarial modeling for HMO's and insurance companies for Medicare Advantage, Prescription Drug Plans, Medicaid, group commercial and individual commercial products
- Analyze healthcare trend drivers
- Analyze and create physician reimbursement contracts and reviewing at-risk sharing arrangements
- Review medical expense cost projections for our customers
- Develop unpaid claims reserve estimates for HMOs and insurance companies
- Work on regulatory compliance documentation for small group health and Medicare business
- Develop program rates, prepare cost estimates, and conduct and evaluate studies on pricing, utilization and healthcare costs.
Key Skills/Experiences - Consultant
- Must have passed a minimum of two or more actuary exams (ASA or FSA designation preferred).
- 5+ years of healthcare actuarial experience (or a combination of healthcare and other actuarial) required.
- Medicare (especially Part D bid process) preferred.
- Understand use of work product to overall project. Work product must be accurate and completed on time.
- Ability to communicate with clients via the phone.
- Working knowledge of computer software including, Excel, Access, Microsoft Word and others as needed.
- Current ability (or projected to develop within six months) to manage projects for clients.
- Handle project from data request through first draft of report
- Can effectively deal with clients.
