Job Description

The primary function of this position is to operate the Packaging-Forklift-Bulk Truck- in an efficient manner with respect to; production, quality, sanitation and safety.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Packages designated products as instructed.
  • Obtains proper bags from packaging areas.
  • Maintains proper bag weights and records data as required.
  • Sets, cleans and adjusts code daters, sealers and bag turners
  • Keep all production areas clean and orderly.
  • Employees designated as the Relief Operator will provide coverage for Operator who are absent for various reasons.
  • Loads and unloads trucks with designated products.
  • Unloading of incoming products and materials.
  • Secures loads, closes and seals trucks where necessary.
  • Keeps count of bags being loaded and records and signs tallies.
  • Remove, weigh, stretch wrap and record finished pallets.
  • Provide commodities to production lines
  • Maintains a clean working area around loading area.
  • Samples product and notifies supervisor of any irregularities.
  • Performs minor repair work as required for efficient loading operations
  • Operate semi tractors by hooking up to empty trailers, moving trailers to and from truck scales to silo and dropping loaded trailers in parking lot
  • Perform inspection of trailer interiors to insure cleanliness
  • Attach hose from silo to trailer, verify correct flour type, perform and record temperature and pressure readings every 10 minutes, take flour samples every 30 minutes and deliver to Quality Control Department
  • Communicate start and stop times with production operators who control the flow of flour while monitoring the time to within seconds of total loading times.
  • Perform written documentation of weights and trailer numbers as well as gage readings while following and filling out a procedure sheet which outlines the loading process for each load.
  • Attach numbered security seals to loaded trailers and record seal numbers. Prepare outgoing paperwork and insure all QC and tank wash tickets are included for each load.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED; is preferred
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Oral and written communications skills.
  • Understanding of basic technology of area where assigned.
  • Must have interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Knowledge of quality, food safety and safe work procedures.
  • Three Shift Operation
  • Able to work overtime as needed
