General Purpose

The Consumer Loan Title Clerk is responsible for processing all Motor Vehicle Title Work for new and paid off loans.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ensures that titled vehicles have the bank's lien recorded on the title at the Department of Motor Vehicles. In addition to ensuring the lien is perfected, ensures that the Live Note file is complete and filed accordingly.
  • Communicates with the customer and the Department of Motor Vehicles on Titles when unusual circumstances arise.
  • Review daily the e-title filings and either accept or deny, and download the e-title to the loan file.
  • When vehicle loan is completely paid, releases the lien and transfers Title to the owner.
  • Reviews daily the e-filings and either deny or accept and download the e-title to the loan file.
  • Gives exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers by providing prompt, polite and effective communication.
  • Uses word processing, spreadsheets, and specialized equipment/software to prepare documents as appropriate.
  • Greets and assists department visitors.
  • Assists with special projects as time allows.
  • Regular and Reliable attendance is a required essential function of this position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Basic knowledge of consumer lending.
  • Ability to communicate information in a clear and concise manner both in writing and verbally.
  • Strong customer service skills that allow them to work closely with front line staff, Consumer Lending staff, and County Offices.
  • Understands the importance of and able to maintain confidential information.
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping skills.
  • Strong detail orientation, multi-tasking skills, and organizational skills enabling the individual to work at a fast pace.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Pro.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Education or Formal Training:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
  • Additional college classes in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance or similar preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one (1) year working in a consumer loan financial institution environment or a governmental motor vehicle department preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.

Working Conditions

Working Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Activities:

These are representative of those which must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required; it would require the ability to reach for and lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Employee may have to lift up to 25 pounds.

Starting Rate of Pay is from $17.25 to $22.25 per hour, depending on experience.
