LinQuest is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO. An active TS/SCI clearance is required.

As a Linux Administrator, you will be responsible for administering, managing, and maintaining the Linux-based systems within our organization. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our Linux infrastructure, as well as providing support to end-users and other IT teams. This role requires a strong understanding of Linux operating systems, networking, scripting, and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs
  • Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments
  • Fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to server hardware, system and user application software, and networking.
  • Collaborate with other IT and user teams to integrate improve overall performance, functionality and capabilities of the systems and applications.
  • Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning
  • Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware
  • Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks
  • Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment
  • Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes
  • Monitor system performance and ensure optimal operation of Linux-based systems.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect Linux servers from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities.
  • Perform system updates, patches, and upgrades on a regular basis to ensure system stability and security.
  • Utilize package management utilities such as Yum and DNF for package installation, removal, and dependency resolution.
  • Develop and maintain scripts to automate routine tasks and improve system efficiency.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to end-users and other IT staff.
  • Create and maintain documentation for Linux systems, configurations, and procedures.
  • Integrate Linux systems with Microsoft Active Directory (AD) for centralized authentication and user management.
  • Implement appropriate security configurations, as well as any mitigations and remediations.
  • Manage group permissions and access control lists (ACLs) within Linux environments.
  • Support of security compliance through design control, configuration/change control documentation, patch testing, verification and remediation releases and decisions.
  • Develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures such as baseline, procedures, and processes to achieve system administration functions.
  • Deploying and maintaining container systems such as Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring efficient application deployment and scalability.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields. Equivalent years of experience considered.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in System/network administration or related fields.
  • DOD 8570.01M IAT 2 certification CompTIA Security+ or higher IAT cert required.
  • Preferred certifications: CompTIA Linux+, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) (preferred).
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat), including installation, configuration, and administration.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies.
  • Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Python, Perl) for automation and system tasks.
  • Familiarity with security best practices and tools for securing Linux servers (e.g., firewalls, SELinux, SSH).
  • Possess a strong understanding of Linux file system permissions, application integration and how to effectively manage Linux networks.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to work in a secure, confined location as needed (i.e., SCIF)
  • US citizenship and an active TS/SCI government security clearance.

Compensation: The salary for this position ranges from approximately $110,000 to $125,000 depending on relevant experience and qualifications.
