This position provides clinical support to patients and assists care providers with clinical and administrative support.

Current Openings at the Briargate Outpatient Specialty Clinics, located in Colorado Springs:

  • Pulmonary - full time and part time currently available
  • Gastroenterology - full time currently available
  • Developmental Pediatrics - full time currently available
  • Urology - full time currently available
  • Orthopedics - full time currently available
  • COS Pediatric Diabetes Center - full time currently available
  • Ear Nose Throat - part time currently available
  • Endocrinology - part time currently available
  • Float/all units

Note: MAs may be required to float to other care areas as needed.



Hourly Salary:

Compensation is determined by years of experience. The pay range for Medical Assistant is $18.99 - $23.07 per hour. For a Medical Assistant Senior, the pay range is $20.81 - $25.27 per hour.

The Minimum Qualifications to be a Medical Assistant are:

  • EDUCATION - High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited/certified Medical Assistant program.
  • CERTIFICATION(S) - BLS for Healthcare Providers / CPR.

The Minimum Qualifications to be a Medical Assistant Senior are:

  • EDUCATION - High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • EXPERIENCE - One year in a direct health care role.
  • CERTIFICATION(S) -BLS for Healthcare Providers / CPR and certification as a Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, National Certified Medical Assistant, Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant, or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant

Job Highlights

  • Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment. Conducts quality checks.
  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment. Reports areas of concern to next care provider.
  • Supports patient care delivery by assisting health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic testing; disposing of contaminated supplies; cleaning or preparing for sterilization of medical instruments; administering medications per policy and procedures; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies and other duties within scope.
  • Assists in balancing workloads, coordinates and maintains clinic flow by coordinating with providers, and monitoring patient flow.
  • Prepares and completes medical record for visit by recording patient information, treatment, and test results. Assists with patient "MyChart" enrollment.
  • Independently initiates insurance pre-authorizations.
  • Serves as the preceptor for new staff, including orientation, education, skill validation, tracking, assessment and monitoring progress.
