Job Description

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer within the IT Disaster Recovery organization. The Staff Site Reliability Engineer will work to advance the development and execution of the Disaster Recovery Program within VISA. In this position the Staff Site Reliability Engineer will be expected to establish new standards for the design and technical implementation of disaster recovery capabilities for applications and infrastructure across core Visa platforms. The Staff Site Reliability Engineer will play a lead role on the VISA's Disaster Recovery (DR) team and will work with systems and business teams to identify risks in the environment to create viable recovery solutions and mitigation plans.

The Work itself

  • Work with all the Business and Technology units within VISA to define critical, time-sensitive functions along with the associated recovery time objectives and recovery point objectives.
  • Create a best-practices DR program to protect VISA's information assets, ensuring appropriate information security measures and disaster recovery processes are in place.
  • Lead technical oversight for ITDR programs across key Visa platforms.
  • Define DR program scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Validate existing application and system architectures to ensure expected DR objectives and measures are being achieved.
  • Develop emergency management plans for recovery decision making and communications to ensure appropriate decision making occurs to support RTO and RPO requirements.
  • Work with different departments and business functions within VISA to understand business processes and uncover potential risks.
  • Ensure the validity of the business continuity plan and program through regular testing and plan updates and maintenance.
  • Use Service Impact Assessments (SIA) to develop scenarios to re-establish operations from various types of technical disruptions.
  • Create and maintain required documentation which at a minimum should include impact analysis, risk assessment, and DR/resiliency standards for service architecture and technology domain patterns.
  • Lead annual DR/BCP testing activities to ensure VISA is prepared to keep or bring systems online during a DR/BCP event.
  • Lead the governance, documentation, and coordination with various technology teams and stakeholder in executing the Visa's Offline Backup & Recovery program.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
*5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications
*6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
*3 years' experience working with IT departments in building Disaster Recovery/BC plans.
*4+ years working knowledge of critical business processes, products, and services.
*2 + years' experience as a Technical Architecture with strong application of Resiliency Architecture and Design Patterns.
*Excellent verbal/written communication, administrative, and computing skills.
*Good understanding of Application/System/Infrastructure architectures and Backup/Restoration solution and strategies that can be implemented to maximize data availability and mitigate the risk of business interruption or data loss.
*Strong understanding of BCM and its integral partnership with IT Disaster Recovery at both technical and business levels.
*Excellent program/project management skills.
*Capable of developing strong and cooperative inter-departmental partnerships for joint actions.
*Experience with creating, presenting, and deploying an enterprise business disaster recovery and contingency plans.
*Experience with monitoring DR programs including audit and regulatory compliances.
*Ability to create and implement related DR/BC standards and procedures.
*Strong analytical skills needed to identify business process improvements, separate key issues, consider alternatives or multiple solutions, and effectively make recommendations.
*Lead the governance, documentation, and coordination with various technology teams and stakeholder in executing the Visa's Offline Backup & Recovery program.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 112,500.00 to 163,050.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
