Job Overview

Performs a spectrum of ultrasound procedures on patients to include general, gynecological, vascular and pediatric specific exams; provides conscientious patient care while adhering to all quality and safety standards; and performs administrative duties (such as scheduling appointments, patient instructions, and maintenance of records).

Responsible for evaluating and monitoring the quality of all ultrasound procedures and provides day-to-day direction to other ultrasound technologists and students in all aspects of care and imaging to expedite patient flow through the Radiology department.

Shift: Monday-Friday 0630a-1700 or Monday-Friday 0800-1630.

Qualifications


* EDUCATION - Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program
* EXPERIENCE - Three (3) years of experience
* CERTIFICATION(S) - ARDMS certification Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with Abdomen (AB) specialty and Registered Vascular Technologist (VT); Pediatric Sonography specialty within one year; American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider or American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer

Preferred: Previous pediatric experience

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE
* Neonate- < 30 days
* Infancy- > 30 days to 1 yr.
* Toddlers- > 1 yr. to 3 yrs.
* Pre-schoolers- > 3 yrs. to 5 yrs.
* School age-> 5 yrs. to 13 yrs.
* Adolescent- >13 yrs. to 18 yrs.
* Adult- >18 yrs. to 65 yrs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

1. Oversees radiographic images and monitors quality for all diagnostic radiographic procedures.
2. Facilitates patient flow on a daily basis.
3. Independently produces high quality ultrasound images that are evaluated and scored by the modality supervisor.
4. Provides age appropriate care and appropriately prepares patients for procedures.
5. Provides high quality patient care through the use of effective communication that explains the ultrasound exam and ensures patient comfort and safety.
6. Operates all equipment properly to include any adjunct equipment that is required.
7. Demonstrates competency in all aspects of RIS and PACs as it pertains to modality specific functions and use.
8. Manages patient priority and act as first responder when needed
9. Follows department policies, procedures and protocol.
10. Trains and mentors students and new hires.
11. Works variable shifts and takes call as needed.
12. Participates in procedure review and writing.
13. Participates in competency assessment.
14. Responsible for the coordination and/or oversight of projects and initiatives as defined by leadership.
15. Directs the technologist in their daily work and assists with technologist scheduling.
16. Oversees student and new hire training in the radiology department and communicates with the school and/or supervisor as required.
17. May function as POC liaison
18. May assist with ACR accreditation process
19. May order supplies for department as needed

Guidelines: Fully qualified, full performance or journey level. Communications: Contacts with team members, clients or the public where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, defended, and gathered and discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function.
Supervision Received: Performs work with minimal supervisory oversight. Under general supervision, the employee receives assignments and is expected to carry them through to completion with substantial independence. Work is reviewed for adherence to instructions, accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standard practice or precedent. Recurring work clearly covered by guidelines may or may not be reviewed.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $92,326.29 to $138,489.44
Hourly Salary Range: $44.39 to $66.58
