Job Description

SUMMARY

Performs Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS). Perform a full range of physical therapist services in accordance with the scope of clinical privileges granted by the MTF.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and prepare written treatment programs based on an evaluation of the patient.
  • Administer manual exercises to improve and maintain function.
  • Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in performing various physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily living activities, and in use of assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
  • Administer soft tissue mobilization, applying knowledge of mobilization techniques and body physiology.
  • Record treatment, response, and progress in the patient's electronic health record.
  • Coordinate treatment with physician and other staff members to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment program and integrate physical therapy treatment with other aspects of the patient's health care. Contact referring physicians regarding patient care concerns, as required.
  • Perform prevention and wellness activities, education, screening, and promote positive health behaviors.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from a Physical Therapy program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.
  • Electromyography certified.
  • Must possess and maintain an active, current, valid, and unrestricted license from a US jurisdiction (fifty States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands) to practice independently within the defined scope of practice for their specialty.
  • Must have a minimum of 24 months in the last 36 months of documented current clinical independent experience and competency in an orthopedic setting. Must have the level of experience and documented current clinical competency to be awarded "Regular" privileges to work independently.
  • Must be able to safely execute the responsibilities of their specialty in providing health care. Has no medical or mental condition that prevents or that significantly reduces an individual's ability to safely execute their approved scope of practice in providing health care. This includes alcohol or drug abuse, or mental health disorder not responsive to treatment.
  • Must possess and maintains current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support.
  • Must possess and maintains current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support.
  • All Market contractors must meet their minimum MGMA performance standard, if applicable.
  • Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks (U.S. citizenship required).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Manual therapy skills and dry needling experience is strongly desired.
  • Ability to effectively read, write and speak English in order to communicate with all patients and other healthcare providers.

WORK SCHEDULE

Full-time. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.

TRAVEL

All Market contractors are subject to working at a duty location at any of the MTFs or associated sub clinics within the Colorado Military Health System (CMHS).

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver's license and be insurable on the company's automobile insurance policy. Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required when traveling for training and/or short occasional amounts of local driving. The expected driving time is less than 25%.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed primarily indoors at a well-lit military treatment facility such as a clinic, outpatient facility or hospital. The environment is normally air conditioned, but conditions may change dependent upon circumstances. Work may need to be performed in a fast-paced environment requiring quick thinking and rapid judgements. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of clients in differing functions, personalities, and abilities. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids, latex, radiation or other contaminants and safety issues. May be exposed to infection or diseases from contact with patients. Work is highly social with patients and can be stressful with a high emotional element. Decisions made may substantially impact patients and their families.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position consists of sitting for long periods of time, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, speaking, or translating. Periods of walking, standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting boxes weighing up to 30 pounds. Moderate to extended periods of office work with heavy periods of computer usage. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS PACKAGE

  • Pay is: $114.44to $119.01per hour.
