This role will report to the Senior Vice President and Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer . This role assumes responsibility for developing, leading, and executing DEI enterprise partnership strategies that further embed DEI into the business, people and ESG strategies, organizational culture, and marketplace. This role will also own responsibilities for creating strategies and implementation frameworks for DEI business solutions identified through strategic initiatives and special projects such as DEI Research and Innovation Labs. This role will partner closely with the following leadership teams: Global DEI Office Leadership, Centralized DEI Talent Acquisition (TA) & Early Careers, Talent Marketing, Enterprise Talent Office, Data Analytics, The Office of Sustainability, Leadership Advisory Councils and Employee Resource Groups (ERG).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • DEI Partnerships, Strategies and DEI Integration Operations
    • Lead strategy and execution for strategic partnerships (conferences, memberships, brand recognition and ESG integration)
    • Oversee strategic business initiatives from development through successful execution under the leadership of the Chief DEI Officer
    • Collaborate cross functionally with business leaders to ideate, develop, and implement DEI strategic priorities as well as programs, and improve upon existing strategic initiatives
    • Serve as an extended lead team member of the Centralized DEI TA team, leading strategy for TA activations for enterprise partnerships
    • Own high-impact external partner relationships, ensuring ongoing governance and sustainability of the partnership
    • Prepare board, executive, and enterprise-wide partnership updates, presentations, and communications
    • Serve as a DEI thought partner to the People Team, Sustainability and business segment leaders for potential local partnership strategies, business integration and external engagement planning
    • Drive global DEI principles and best practices throughout the enterprise
    • Ensures consistent and timely communication and flow of information between the Global DEI Office and applicable internal stakeholders
    • Provide oversight and relationship management for key external relationships, providing direction and support to internal cross-functional partners to ensure partnership awareness, opportunities, and consistent enterprise branding
    • Negotiate new partnerships with potential partners and renegotiate existing partnerships to establish and/or continue mutually beneficial relationships
    • Monitoring market trends and competitor activities to identify potential opportunities
    • Establish key performance indicators and success measures
  • People Leadership, Program Management & Business Planning
    • Lead a team of Relationship Managers who serve as subject matter experts in developing and fostering strategic DEI partnership relationships, both internally and externally, that align to enterprise DEI and business areas of focus, talent, and employee groups
    • Allocate resources critical integration strategies, programs activations, events, and meetings, leveraging RMs, PMs and Global DEI Office analyst(s)
    • Ensure governance and communication tactics are coordinated with cross-functional partners
    • Oversee strategic, operational, and financial planning (operating budgets) as well as key program management in support of the Global DEI Office
    • Lead improvements to current processes, team/organizational structures, and coordinate organizational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of national partnership experience
  • 5+ years of experience of formal people leadership (developing and managing teams)
  • 5+ years of experience defining and deploying strategic plans with defined measures of success
  • 3+ years of experience in contract negotiations with enterprise partnerships
  • 3 + years of experience leading and implementing strategies and operational plans at both company and employee levels
  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to cultivate strategic partnerships with external executives
  • Demonstrated ability to autonomously operate in dynamic, fast paced, matrixed organizations
  • Expert level business development skills with the ability to cultivate new relationships with potential enterprise partnership targets
  • Ability to travel 25%


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading and implementing DEI strategies and operational plans at both company and employee levels
  • Demonstrated ability to move seamlessly between strategy and execution
  • Demonstrated ability of leading a team and delivering upon complex large-scale, projects (project management), delivering quality work against deadlines
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to develop insights from data to influence and drive decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee large budgets and lead business planning
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through written, verbal and design skills

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $147,300 to $282,800 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
