Works with the Education Manager and Early Learning Center Director to develop a high-quality and exemplary educational program responsible to child, parent, and staff needs. Is responsible for providing leadership to the teaching staff and helping to manage the daily programs within the Early Learning Center.

Scope

A Lead Preschool Teacher:

  • Ensures classroom adheres to the Colorado Department of Early Childhood, Colorado Shines, and State Licensing requirements and guidelines.

  • Is well-versed in early childhood education curriculum content. Guides children in all areas of the educational program-cognitive, communication socio-emotional development, and fine and gross motor skills.

  • Incorporates principles of child development and education into age-appropriate classrooms to meet physical, cognitive, and social-emotional needs of children and their families.

  • Adapts teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of children.

  • Role-models the use of trauma-informed care to establish and maintain strong relationships with patients, effectively interpret behavior, and appropriately respond to meets the patient's needs.

  • Is sensitive to the cultural differences among the children, families, and caregivers and responds in a sensitive and professional manner.

  • Models a calm demeanor while engaging with children actively exhibiting negative or maladaptive behaviors.

  • Models the facilitation of play and engagement with children and provides appropriate supervision for children at all times.

  • Provides family members with appropriate educational information, resources, and recommendations.

  • Tracks children's progress and reports to families.

  • Exceeds high standards of professionalism and sets example for children and other caregivers by modeling appropriate and positive behaviors.

  • Adheres to health/safety and sanitation procedures.

  • Completes all mandatory and required training/education assignments in a timely manner.

  • Initiates opportunities to regularly recognize caregivers and peers.

  • May be required to float to other classrooms (within scope and qualifications) based on business need or adjust schedule/shift based on program need

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and professional standards and recommendations that guide agency best practices.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, Family and Child Development or Child Psychology, preferred

  • If degree is not in a related field, completed or working towards completing at least two (2) three-semester hour Early Childhood Education (ECE) courses with one being ECE 101: Introduction to ECE, required- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with children, required-

  • Current Driver's License and must obtain Colorado Driver's License within 30 days of moving to Colorado, required- Motor vehicle record and proof of automobile insurance coverage to be updated annually, required.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$18.29 - $29.09
