ResponsibilitiesThe Quantum team is seeking a committed and driven Principal Hardware Program Manager to engage with external hardware partners to develop Quantum Computing hardware systems. In collaboration with the Quantum technical teams, you will drive the development and engineering management of the external hardware partners. Responsibilities include the following: deliver upon program objectives, milestones, and documentation. You will lead and direct program reviews, own addressing engineering progress, identifying and closing the on issues, and selecting partners for future contracts. Additionally, you will partner with the Architecture and Systems team to lead the systems engineering for scalability. In this role you will be responsible for all the technical external and internal communication with the external hardware companies. As part of the global Hardware Program Manager (HW PM) team, you will be representing the logical quantum computer program requirements and dependencies with other functional areas of the Quantum organization. Key Responsibilities include: Delivering the logical quantum computer to meet business objectives. Drive the milestone deliverables. Program resource planning. Dependencies mapping with teams. Create the program documentation and specifications to meet the program deliverables. Progress Reporting - Deliver reliable score-carding and reporting that provides program owners and leaders information to drive decisions across the organization. Partner with the Architecture and Systems team to lead the systems engineering of the logical quantum computer. Great partnerships With the external hardware companies program teams Internally with the technical teams Internally with the business management teams. Schedule - Create and drive a schedule and commitments based upon strategy, available resources, and demonstrated capacity of the team. Specifications - Manage the formulation, review, sharing, and execution of specifications. Infrastructure - Put in place tools and procedures which enable the team to efficiently meet the program objectives. A successful first year in this position will feature: Leveraging your interpersonal and collaboration skills to meet program milestones. Build trusted working relationships with the external hardware providers. Ability to understand the system level technology and tradeoffs. Deliver development roadmap for the logical quantum computer. Ability to manage ambiguity and uncertainty, while driving clarity.
