INNOVATION TEACHER & ACADEMIC COORDINATOR

Job Description 2024-25

*NOTE: We will begin interviews after Spring Break in early April.

  • On campus, 7:30 am-4:00 pm, Monday through Friday

OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a dynamic teacher to join our team as an Innovation Faculty Member. As an Innovation Faculty Member, you will play a key role in supporting the Impact Studio classes and activities within our vibrant maker space environment. You will also support the other Innovation Specialists by providing instructional support.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Area 1: Instruction

3 units (24-30 hrs / week)

  • Teach three full-year sections, of 18-20 students, or their equivalent in the middle or upper school in relevant areas of innovation, expecting to teach a breadth of innovation curriculum and three unique preps.

Area 2: Academic Coordination

0.5 unit (4-5 hrs / wk)

  • Observe Innovation Associates and Specialists teaching electives (5 members) and offer feedback and coaching

  • Coordinate and communicate yearly timeline for innovation electives including instructor compliance with teaching expectations and student recruitment and marketing.

  • Operational coordination of elective coursework offered through the Office of Innovation

Area 3: Instructional Support & Space Staffing

1.5 units (12-15 hrs / week)


  • Actively and passively support classroom instruction and supervise students and faculty in the middle and upper school Impact Studios spaces

  • Supervise pass/fail Innovation Workshops and Independent Studies in areas of Innovation, specifically technology and design.

  • Contribute to the construction of a network of professional advisors and a database of community opportunities for Kent Denver students.

  • Contribute expertise and passion to the Office of Innovation and institutional projects as assigned.


SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

Subject Area Knowledge


  • Preferred ability to teach Computer Science sequence (CSP, CSA, and ATCS)

  • Preferred ability to teach coursework in 3D Modelling and other innovation areas

  • Preferred experience mentoring and coaching faculty

Experience


  • At least 3 years of teaching experience

  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial and/or business setting

  • Previous work in a school or student environment

  • Ability to teach and mentor teenage students

  • Experience in a design and fabrication studio

Qualifications


  • A bachelor's degree in education, technology, or a related field (preferred)
