UDR, Inc. is now hiring a Billing Specialist to join our team at our corporate office in Highlands Ranch.

This position will be 100% in office during training. Thereafter, will have the potential to work from home one day per week, with the other four days in office.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under direction of the Manager - Billing, responsible for verifying the accuracy and completeness of final account statements; review of former residents' security deposit refunds for accuracy.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the Manager - Billing

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: N/A

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Audit final account statement balances for accuracy and completeness, including the daily security deposit refund process, to ensure final account statements are in compliance with the lease and applicable laws.

2. Send final account statements to former residents on the weekly report.

3. Conduct all collection activity while complying with the Fair Debt Collections Act and all other state and federal collection laws.

4. Manage past due accounts once a payment agreement is established including collecting and follow-up as needed.

5. Assist with the collections of unpaid rents, utility payments, and fees to reduce bad debt write-offs.

6. Provide documents and any requested information to our thirty-party collection agency.

7. Maintain databases/systems by retrieving, entering, and updating data to ensure accuracy.

8. Provide superior customer service to internal and external customers.

9. Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of organizational and community policies and procedures. Ability to apply policies and procedures to solve everyday issues.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills. Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities. Knowledge of basic accounting/bookkeeping practices. Proficient in basic mathematic skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials. Ability to exercise initiative, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Intermediate Excel Skills. Attention to details, and basic experience with MS Office software applications required (e.g., Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Word). Must be skilled in drafting correspondence and creating and maintaining databases.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Some bending, stooping, and stretching. Occasionally lifting items weighing up to 30 lbs. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Extensive data input and required ability to sit for long periods of time. Physical presence onsite is required to perform essential job functions unless otherwise noted. Regular and consistent attendance on the job is an essential function.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. High School diploma required.

2. Minimum of two years demonstrated working experience, utilizing proficiency with MS Excel.

3. Minimum of one year accounts receivable experience.

4. Experience in leasing collections is a plus.

5. OneSite software experience is a plus.

6. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license unless otherwise noted.

Hourly Range:
* $20/hr. - $24/hr., depends on experience

Bonus Potential:
* Eligible for 10% annual bonus potential, based on personal and company performance
