Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Accounting to lead our accounting team. The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of financial accounting, reporting, and compliance, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to regulatory standards. This position requires strategic thinking, strong leadership capabilities, and extensive experience in financial management. The Director of Accounting will play a key role in driving the financial success and growth of our organization.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the full stream general ledger month-end close process, to produce complete, accurate, and timely financialstatements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Consolidate multiple legal entities on a monthly basis, including intercompany eliminations.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial results and analysis, presenting to internal management.
  • Establish, document, and modify financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. Enhance and improve current processes through improved automation and systemization.
  • Lead technical accounting research and implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls, and accounting policies and procedures, to ensure compliance with GAAP standards and best practices.
  • Review business unit balance sheet reconciliations and analysis including but not limited to deferred revenue, work in process and capital expenditures, fixed assets, contract assets, capital/financed Leases, right of use assets, and more.
  • Analyze the income statement and provide commentary on variances to prior month, forecast, and budget.
  • Lead the annual audit process and collaborate with external auditors.
  • Manage consolidated payroll, accounts payable and receivable functions across multiple entities.
  • Partner with SVP of Finance to ensure full integration of data with all financial systems throughout the organization, including selecting and implementing an ERP.
  • In conjunction with the legal team, manage Lightpath regulatory and financial filing requirements, including new filings, with Secretaries of State, Departments of Revenue, Public Utility Commissions, and other state and local entities.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Facilitate growth of business by identifying, hiring, training, and managing additional staff and/or outside consultants.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred (not required)
  • Minimum 7+ years' experience in accounting and finance
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry is a plus
  • Strong technical accounting skills and advanced knowledge of GAAP and best practices
  • Experience consolidating financial statements for multiple entities
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Experience with financial systems and tools, such as ERP systems, integrated accounting software solutions, and financial reporting software
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment with multiple and competing priorities
  • Execution focused and deadline driven with the ability to take responsibility for delivering quality work in a timely manner
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize data and provide strategic guidance upon analysis

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in Colorado. The pay range at the time of posting in the specified locations is $125,000 - $150,000/year. Pay ranges are supplied in compliance with Colorado law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience.
