What You Will Do:

Gannett Fleming is seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Scientist or Engineer to be located in Denver, CO; Dallas, TX; Columbus, OH; or Madison, WI. We are also offering a fully remote option with travel to client sites as needed to assist with environmental compliance and auditing for a variety of industrial manufacturing and food & beverage clients located across the U.S. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team to guide clients from conceptualization to full design, to successful operation, offering innovative solutions to technical, environmental and regulatory compliance challenges.

Your assignments will allow you to apply your understanding of applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA), and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). You will be responsible for managing multiple concurrent assignments; develop/maintain schedules; analyze and document critical project elements; coordinate with others to determine requirements and incorporate feedback. You will lead or participate in coordination efforts involving clients, contractors, outside consultants, government agencies, project stakeholders and Gannett Fleming staff from multiple locations and technical disciplines is expected.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare environmental compliance plans, reports, and regulatory submissions.
  • Review and understand environmental regulations and determine applicability.
  • Analyze data and prepare air emissions inventories and other technical calculations.
  • Prepare permit applications and supporting documentation.
  • Review permit terms to assist the client in compliance within regulatory framework.
  • Track compliance deadlines and be responsible for preparation of numerous reports.
  • Assist project managers and senior level management on projects.
  • Conduct site visits to gather equipment information, conduct inspections, and audits.
  • Some travel and overnight stays will be required.
Education | Experience:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Geology, or Natural Resources, or in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering
  • 5-10 years of related experience supporting industrial manufacturing and food & beverage clients
  • Ability to review and understand complex local, state and federal regulations.
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance areas such as:
    • Clean Air Act
      • Air permitting, stack testing, emissions calucations, Title V, PSD, NSR, NSPS, MACT, NESHAP, RMP, ODS, Asbestos
    • Clean Water Act
      • Industrial storm water permitting, NPDES, wastewater permitting and compliance, SWPPP preparation
    • Spill Prevention
      • Oil management compliance, SPCC plan preparation
    • Waste Management, Reporting
      • RCRA Hazardous Waste, Universal Waste, Beneficial Reuse, Residual Waste
    • Chemical Storage, Planning, Reporting - CERCLA, Tier II Chemical Inventory reporting, EPCRA 302, 311, 312
    • Release Reporting - Toxic Release Inventory EPCRA 313
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Successful candidate must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to collaborate with a team.
