Come join the fast-growing Building Engineering Services Group at HDR.The Building Engineering Services Group (BES) provides mechanical, electrical, plumbing, site civil, structural, and specialty design services for a wide variety of buildings that include public, municipal, private, and Federal project types both locally as well as across the region and globally. With a team of experienced staff in specific market areas such as Healthcare, Science and Technology, Commercial Real Estate, Finance, Mission Critical, Hospitality, Industrial, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Transportation, Federal, and Resources facilities, we provide engineering excellence for our clients. We have an industry-leading focus on sustainable design and energy conservation.

We are currently searching for an Engineering Principalin Denver, CO office. This dynamic individual needs to be engaged with clients and the engineering community, both locally and regionally. This person will represent HDR in the engineering community, participate in speaking engagements, and author white papers and technical publications. They will participate in project interviews, contribute to proposal language, and assemble fees. They should be a person who can leverage their network to identify project opportunities.

This individual needs to be a conceptual thinker who can engage and challenge our architectural designers during the early stages of projects to inform the conceptual design. They will leverage our integrated practice to add value to our project delivery process and lead engineering teams to deliver well-coordinated, high-quality designs. This person must have a passion for maximizing sustainability within the project constraints while exceeding performance expectations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of large multidiscipline projects or medium-sized projects with high degree of technical complexity, typically involving a large project staff
  • Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently
  • Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
  • Coordinate staffing and workload of staff through entire project development to complete documents on schedule
  • Conduct schematic, design development and contract document work sessions at project sites in conjunction with other Project Managers, appropriate technical professionals, and other disciplines
  • Work with the Business/Accounting Managers, Project Controllers or Company Controllers and Department Manager or Managing Principal for project reviews
  • Implement QA/QC procedures and execute training for personnel as established
  • Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering
  • 10 years in the design of engineering systems for large complex buildings
  • PE required
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  • Preference given to local candidates

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in building system Mechanical, Electrical or Structural Engineering preferred
  • Local and national industry relationships preferred
  • Accreditation in LEED, Green Globe, Well, or ASHRAE High Performance Buildings is highly desirable

The expected compensation range for this position is $150,227.00 - $214,610.00 annually/hourly depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
